the hardest part is the intonation (ranging from 1-5). since i already know japanese, i can recognize the meaning of certain kanji (or han2 zi5) quickly, but i don't know how to pronounce them in chinese.

it's a lot of work, but fun. keeps the old noggin' fresh.
